WHO IS PIGEON RAT?

Part Pigeon. Part Rat. 100% New York.

Pigeon Rat was born on the Lower East Side of New York City, where grit, creativity, and community collide every day.

The idea first appeared around 2017 when I showed a sketch of a strange pigeon-rat creature to my friend Alex. She immediately handed me a bright yellow ski jacket and said:

“Do whatever you want. Just put Pigeon Rat on it.”

So I did.

I painted the jacket with hidden New York references, buildings, symbols, and stories. Soon another friend wanted one. Then another. Without realizing it, Pigeon Rat had left the sketchbook and entered the city.

Years later, after the original jacket was stolen, Alex told me something that stuck with me:

“You really need to do something with this.”

That challenge sparked a new chapter. Over the next year, I created dozens of paintings, stories, and designs, eventually bringing Pigeon Rat to life as the character you see today.

But Pigeon Rat is more than a character.

It’s a symbol of New York
itself.

New Yorkers have always had a love-hate relationship with pigeons and rats. They’re resilient, adaptable, resourceful, and impossible to ignore. Sound familiar?

So we combined them.

Part pigeon. Part rat. Entirely New Yorker.

Today, Pigeon Rat explores the city through art, storytelling, animation, and apparel while celebrating the humor, chaos, resilience, and creativity that make New York unlike anywhere else in the world.
